Sex + gender

How do we create inclusive spaces
for conversations about gender identity and sexuality?

Field Trip: December 3rd, 2021 10-11:30 PT

Workshop: December 16th, 2021 12-1:30 PT

School is a place where young people forge their sense of self and cement how they relate to others. But the historical way schools speak about (or don’t) topics of gender and sexuality leaves a mark. It often reinforces detrimental stereotypes, silences those who don’t fit the “mold,” and leaves others confused and in the dark.

Knowing the prominent role gender and sex play in our lives, how can we do better? How do we deliberately create space for many identities and proactively teach an empowering and liberating point of view?

Access to this month’s experiences start at $25.

WORKSHOP (12.16.21)

Growing up, was puberty education provided in your school? Were you taught about all bodies and gender experiences or just the one that matched yours? Did you feel like you could speak openly, without shame or taboo, about changing bodies during adolescence with the grown-ups in your world?

For many adults, the answers to these questions can stir up some hard truths and mixed emotions. How can we prepare young people to better navigate puberty, if we ourselves did not experience this type of support?

In this workshop, we will explore: 1) why gender-inclusive puberty education is so important 2) activities and teaching methods that foster greater inclusivity in puberty education 3) top resources to help you implement gender-inclusive puberty programming in your area.

This virtual workshop will be led by guest facilitator Melissa Pintor Carnagey, LBSW, founder and lead educator at Sex Positive Families. We encourage participants to pick up a copy of Melissa’s book Sex Positive Talks to Have With Kids, which offers an accessible way in to these topics through conversation starters, activities and resources.

50% of profits for this experience will be donated to Intersex Justice Project.
